Germany Preliminary Squad
Mario Gomez failed to make the 30-strong preliminary squad announced by German Coach Joachim Low due to lack of fitness and game time. Sami Khedira, who recovered from a knee ligament tear, was included. Low injected a strong dose of youth into the squad similar to his approach four years ago
The German squad raised no major eyebrows as all the usual suspects made it into the provisional squad. Few notable additions include teenagers Goretzka and Meyer, Drum, Mustafi and Ginter. Hamburg keeper Rene Adler couldn't make it
FIFA has a deadline until June 2 by which all teams need to lodge their 23-member World Cup squads
