Injury Update - Marco Reus Out

Dealing one of the biggest blows for the German campaign, Marco Reus has been ruled out of the tournament with a partially ruptured ankle ligament, The Borussia Dortmund midfielder suffered the injury during Germany's final warmup against Armenia, which they won comfortably 6-1. Reus turned his ankle just before the interval and is diagnosed with a partial tear of anterior ligament and will be on the sidelines for at least six weeks
Germany has already suffered an injury in the midfield as Lars Bender was ruled out due to a thigh problem earlier but coach Joachim Low chose to replace Marco with a defender Shkodran Mustafi despite him playing just once for the national team against Poland last february

Ghana World Cup Squad

Defender Jeffrey Schlupp and Midfielder David Accam missed out on the final World Cup squad announced by coach Kwesi Appiah for Ghana. Jerry Akaminko, who suffered an ankle fracture in the friendly against Netherlands, is the only other exclusion from the original provisional squad
Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari will play their third successive World Cup while Michael Essien, who missed the 2010 edition through injury, is back after playing the 2006 tourney. Kwadwo Asamoah, Andre Ayew, Badu are expected to contribute to the team through their experience

Germany World Cup Squad

Germany's coach managed to trim his talented squad to the requisite 23 members while leaving room only to just one pure striker, the 35 year old veteran striker Miroslav Klose. This would mean that Klose has a very good chance of overtaking Ronaldo as the top scorer in all the World Cups if things go his way in the finals. He would be assisted by another veteran Lukas Podolski and 2010 Golden Boot winner Thomas Muller while the stocky striker Kevin Volland missed the bus
Defenders Mustafi, Schmelzer also missed the cut while Lars Bender was already ruled out due to injury. Jansen, Goretzka, Hahn and Meyer were already dropped earlier. Kramer who replaced Hahn was included in the final roster
Also, all the ailing regulars such as Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Neuer and Lahm made the squad

According to the team doctor, Akaminko suffered a fracture to the fibula bone at his left ankle joint

Injury Update - Lars Bender Out of World Cup

Germany's training squad has been reduced to 26 members after injury forces another player out of the preliminary squad. Germany and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender has become the latest victim to injuries that plagued the German squad throughout the season. He picked up a muscle and tendon injury in his right thigh during training

Meanwhile Bastian Schweinsteiger has been declared 100% fit for the tourney but he's yet to join the training sessions. Captain Philipp Lahm and first choice goalkeeper Manuel Meuer are still days away from full recovery from their end of the season injuries. Striker Miroslav Klose is also in a race with time to get fit for the tourney while Sami Khedira has recently returned from a long injury
Bender's twin brother Sven failed to make it to the squad due to an injury too, so are Mario Gomez and Ilkay Gundogan

USA World Cup Squad Announced

Portugal World Cup Squad Announced

One-capped midfielder Rafa made it into the final-23 while Rocardo Quaresma has been left out by Portugal head coach Paulo Bento as he announced the roster who'd fly to Brazil for the World Cup. The other surprise is the inclusion of Andre Almeida, based on his strong late season
Bento stuck with the regulars from his qualifying campaign including Nani despite his struggles with injuries and form throughout the season. Rafa is expected to double up as an attacking option
Anthony Lopes, Antunes, Rolando, Andre Gomes, Joao Maria and Ivan Cavaleiro are the others that have been dropped
