Socceroos Trim Their Provisional Squad
A former captain not included in the 30-man squad, an injury and then a friendly. Now Australia's provisional squad is reduced to 27-man after coach Ange Postecoglou decided to drop the injured defender Curtis Good and two more midfielders, Adam Sarota and Josh Brillante from the intial provisional squad. He termed it disappointing to have to drop the players despite their efforts in the training sessions
It has to be noted that defender Ivan Franjic, who picked up a knee injury in friendly against South Africa, is still in. Another injured midfielder Marc Bresciano, who was rested for the match, hopes to be fit in time for the final selection
Postecoglou need to make another purge before the June 2 FIFA deadline to announce the final squad for the World Cup
