No Lucas Neill for Socceroos in Brazil

Coach Postecoglou announced on May 6 that former captain Lucas Neill will not be part of the provisional 30 to be announced in a few days, on May 14

Earlier last week, veteran midfielder Brett Holman has announced his retirement on the 29th of April ruling him out of contention. This would serve the coach's plans well enough as he'd been on a mission to sweep-out veterans in a bid to rejuvenate the team to achieve long term goals

Clearly making an impact in this edition of the World Cup is not much a priority for the Australian Coach and he'd be assessing the younger talent's performances in the big stage in order to forge out a winning combination for the future
