Belgium is the oldest football association in Europe and has featured regularly in the world stage since the first World Cup. They are famous for defeating four of the reigning world champions in the subsequent World Cups and for their traditional rivaly with Netherlands

Belgium is one of the founding members of FIFA, Belgium currently fields what can be termed as the "Golden Generation" of players. Belgium competed in eleven World Cups so far  including the inaugural tourney. But before even that, they have won a gold medal in 1920 Antwerp Olympics. They have also been the runners up at 1980 Euro Championship

Belgium's best result in the World Cup has been the fourth place finish at Mexico in 1986. They've appeared in six successive tourneys from 1982 to 2002

Belgium cruised through the qualifying with a sequence of seven victories in a row in Group A of UEFA qualifiers. Their have ended up with eight wins and two draws to comfortably grab the aumatic qualifying spot. As many as ten different players scored for the team, six of them scoring more than once

Belgium's talent pool can be assured of effectively outplaying their opponents, with Russia looking to be the only team that could match them. Although Wilmots would aim to first get through the Group Stages, their best game should be ready when they are bound to face Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi in their pre-quarters and quarter finals
