Korea Republic, or South Korea, is the second weakest in this edition, just ahead of Australia. They were the second Asian team to enter in a World Cup, after Dutch East Indies. They hold an unwanted record of not winning a match in five successive World Cups but they are the only Asian team to reach a World Cup semifinal
Profile
Korea has been the most successful Asian football team in World Cup. They have been a powerful team in the 60s but lack of domestic leagues had hampered their progress. Korea Professional League established in 1983 re-enabled them to gain some lost pride after the turn of millennium
Korea is very vulnerable from the flanks and they tend to concede early in the game often. The Red Devils score often through long shots and are adept at using their left wing efficiently

History
After making their debut in 1958, Korea had to wait for 32 years for their second chance, but they grabbed it by then qualifying eight consecutive times, never missing from 1986. They made history by making it to the semi finals in 2002 when they jointly hosted the tourney with Japan. 2010 Round of 16 is their only other knockout entry
They won the first two editions of Asian Cup but failed to make much impact since then
Qualification
Korea just bettered Uzbekistan to grab the second automatic qualifying spot for Group A of AFC qualifiers. They had a frequently changing squad, including a change in management, throughout the campaign
Prospects
Being the weakest of the teams in Group H, Korea doesn't harbor much chance of qualification from the group. However they'd count on their latescoring ability to snatch an upset which could turn the whole group's fortunes
