No Lucas Neill for Socceroos in Brazil

Its all over for Neill
Coach Postecoglou announced on May 6 that former captain Lucas Neill will not be part of the provisional 30 to be announced in a few days, on May 14

Earlier last week, veteran midfielder Brett Holman has announced his retirement on the 29th of April ruling him out of contention. This would serve the coach's plans well enough as he'd been on a mission to sweep-out veterans in a bid to rejuvenate the team to achieve long term goals

Clearly making an impact in this edition of the World Cup is not much a priority for the Australian Coach and he'd be assessing the younger talent's performances in the big stage in order to forge out a winning combination for the future

Netherlands - First Training Squad

Louis van Gaal, the Netherlands manager, named a squad of 20 for the first training camp as part of his preparations for Brazil 2014. Mostly consisting of Dutch based players, the squad also contains three uncapped players, Luc Castaignos, Terence Kongolo and Jurgen Locadia

The training camp will run for three days and is part of the three camps planned by van Gaal. The foreign based players might join from the second camp onwards which will take place before the scheduled friendly against Ecuador on May 17. van Gaal would also names a provisional 30-man squad before the friendly and they'd be further taking part in the third camp and a couple more friendlies before the final roster is released

Bosnia Provisional Squad

Bosnia coach Safet Susic named his provisional 24-man team for the World Cup. The list includes all the usual suspects who helped the nation impressively qualify for its first outing at the World Event

Susic named one extra entry to cover in case right-back Mensur Mujdza fails to recover in time from his foot injury. A few notable exclusions include defender Boris Pandza and midfielder Adnan Zahirovic. To everyone's surprise, Zahirovic lost his place to the coach's nephew Tino Susic. Another surprise in the team selection is that it has only two strikers of which only one of them would be used per match, the coach claims

FIFA has a deadline until June 2 by which all teams need to lodge their 23-member World Cup squads, which means Susic needs to drop just a name out of his provisional list. In case Mujdza proves his fitness before final selection, either Susic or Hadzic are expected to miss out
